Story Path Adventure Game
Players: 4-6 students Age Range: 5-8 years Time: 15-20 minutes
Materials Needed:
- The alphabet reading rug
- A soft foam die or number cards (1-3)
- Story element cards (can be made with index cards):
- Character cards (people, animals)
- Action cards (jumped, ran, flew, etc.)
- Setting cards (forest, castle, beach, etc.)
How to Play:
- Students start at "A" on the rug
- Each turn:
- Student rolls the die/draws a number card to move that many spaces
- When they land on a letter, they:
- Draw a story element card
- Must say a word starting with that letter that fits their card category
- Add it to the ongoing class story
Example Turn:
- Sally lands on "P"
- She draws a "Character" card
- She might say "Princess"
- Adds to story: "The princess walked through the..."
Special Rules:
- If a student can't think of a word in 30 seconds, other students can help
- When someone reaches "Z", the story concludes
- Bonus points for using descriptive words
